Diyellowin is one of the highlight programs of Hima Ilkom Unpad, run by the Department of Creative Economy. It’s a space where Communication Science students can share their creative ideas while picking up some real entrepreneurial skills. Through this program, students get the chance to design, produce, and even sell their own merchandise with fun and unique Ilkom-style designs. The merchandise offered in Diyellowin batch 2 includes jerseys, keychains, stickers, socks, and enamel pins.
But the process behind every piece of merchandise isn’t as simple as it looks. Safi Sahaja, Head of the Creative Economy Department Hima Ilkom Unpad, shared that the preparation stage was the most memorable part. “The most memorable thing is definitely the preparation, from extra meetings to worrying whether the products from the vendor would turn out right,” he said. Behind the cute and stylish merch lies a lot of hard work that really tested the team’s teamwork from quick decision-making and sudden meet-ups to making sure everything came out with good quality. Those moments left a strong impression on the Diyellowin crew.
Challenges were also part of the journey. For Safi, the hardest part was adjusting the designs to what the market actually wanted. “We got a lot of feedback that we could use to improve so our products will be more appealing in the future,” he explained. From that, the team learned to be more sensitive to what people like while still keeping their own signature style. Safi also left a message: “Diyellowin is super fun for anyone who wants to try creating something while getting a taste of business,” he said. More than just selling merch, Diyellowin is a place for Ilkom students to grow, explore creativity, and build their entrepreneurial side.
Student involvement in Diyellowin also connects with one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. This goal is all about pushing for fair and sustainable economic growth while creating decent job opportunities. By working on everything from design to marketing, Diyellowin helps students build an entrepreneurial mindset and practice creative economy skills. It’s not just about making cool products, it’s also hands-on learning that contributes to inclusive and sustainable growth.
