The communications landscape is constantly evolving, and our program is designed to place you at the forefront of these changes. Here are the key benefits you’ll gain by studying with us:

A Comprehensive Understanding of the Dynamic Media Landscape

Digitalization has profoundly transformed the media consumption patterns of the Indonesian public. Although digital media continues to grow rapidly and become increasingly integrated into daily life, traditional media (print and broadcast) has proven resilient and remains the primary choice for many people. In fact, the latest data shows that the combined market share of television and print advertising is still higher than that of digital advertising. We will equip you with strategies to master both of these media spectrums.

Golden Opportunities at the Heart of the Creative Industry

Indonesia continues to make significant strides in the global digital economy, ranking sixth worldwide with over 2,500 startups in 2023. With Indonesia ranking second in the region for the highest number of unicorns (based on 2022 data), you will have a rich and relevant study environment regarding contemporary digital media and industry innovation.

Appreciation of Communication and Cultural Richness

As the world’s largest archipelago with over 300 distinct ethnic groups, communication serves as the cornerstone for building cross-cultural relationships and understanding. The Faculty of Communication fosters this through an annual cultural festival that embraces global diversity while preserving local heritage. Our students play a crucial role in exploring and showcasing this rich tradition through a cross-cultural communication perspective.

A Comfortable and Inspiring Learning Atmosphere
Our campus is located in the cool educational area of Jatinangor, surrounded by mountains, offering a learning environment with exceptional facilities. Our location is close to Greater Bandung, a city nicknamed the ‘Paris of Java’ and recognized as a pioneer of creative cities in Indonesia. Given that 56% of economic activity in Bandung is closely linked to design sub-sectors such as fashion, graphic design, and digital media, you will be at the center of a motivating creative ecosystem.

Our Communication Studies program equips its graduates with four comprehensive core learning outcomes: attitude, knowledge, general skills, and specialized skills. In terms of attitude, you will be shaped into religious individuals of high moral character, ready to uphold the values of Pancasila, and committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity. Our graduates are also encouraged to consistently demonstrate a high sense of responsibility and independence in every step of their future careers.

In terms of knowledge, you will be guided to master the theoretical concepts of communication science in depth, understand the rules and principles across various specific communication domains, and become experts in rhetorical techniques. You will be trained to articulate brilliant scientific ideas effectively in public forums. Furthermore, you will become proficient in applying research methods to continually explore new insights and knowledge.

To ensure you are ready to compete in the professional world, we hone your general skills so you can think logically, critically, systematically, and innovatively. You will be trained to demonstrate independent, high-quality, and measurable performance, as well as the ability to draft sharp scientific descriptions. Our graduates are molded into reliable problem-solvers, capable of making accurate decisions based on data analysis, self-evaluation, and the continuous management of self-directed learning. Additionally, you will possess essential competencies in documenting, maintaining, securing, and recovering data to ensure its integrity and prevent plagiarism. As a key pillar of competitive excellence, the specialized skills you acquire will enable you to identify communication issues across various contexts, intervene appropriately, and provide a range of alternative solutions.

Earn your Bachelor of Arts (Bachelor of Communication Studies – S.I.Kom) through our comprehensively designed international undergraduate program. By completing a minimum of 144 credit hours, which include the faculty’s required core curriculum and relevant elective courses, you can complete your studies within 8 to 10 semesters. To ensure you are ready to compete on the global stage, all learning activities in this program are conducted entirely in English. We also offer exceptional flexibility, allowing students to transfer credits earned from international education programs during their studies.

Expand your global horizons through the Student Exchange Program, a prestigious opportunity to study at our partner universities abroad for one to two semesters as a full-time student. This program, designed to enrich students’ international experiences, is highly competitive, with the selection process conducted directly by the partner universities. A unique advantage of this pathway is that selected students are exempt from tuition fees at the partner university. You also need not worry about academic progress, as credits from this exchange program can be transferred into your degree program’s curriculum, provided the courses taken align with our core curriculum.

As an equally attractive alternative, we offer the Study Abroad Program, which gives you the flexibility to experience the academic atmosphere at a partner university for a full semester. The main advantage of this scheme is that you can apply without having to go through a rigorous selection process. Although students are required to cover their own tuition costs at the host university as full-time students, the international experience gained will be a highly valuable career investment. Just like the exchange program, the credits you earn from this program can also be seamlessly converted into our curriculum, provided they remain aligned with the established core courses.

In the International Class Program, students will progress through the stages outlined in the structure above. In the first year, students will take foundational courses to support their learning in subsequent years. In the second year, students will take courses in Professional Communication Studies in accordance with the established curriculum. In the third year, students will participate in a study abroad program at a foreign higher education institution that has partnered with the Communication Studies Program at Unpad. After that, students will be guided to gain hands-on experience in the industry and conduct their thesis research.
