Students have the opportunity to participate in various student exchange programs, both at the international and national levels. These programs can enrich students’ experiences as well as broaden their perspectives.
Now, let’s take a look at some of the programs that Communication Science students have participated in!
IISMA, or the Indonesian International Student Mobility Award, is a scholarship program for student exchange at overseas universities for one semester, funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). Students selected for this program have the opportunity to take courses outside their major while also developing their intercultural communication skills.
In the 2024 Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, the Communication Science Study Program had two students who were successfully selected for IISMA:
In addition, several other students have also become IISMA awardee alumni:
The Petukaran Pelajar Merdeka Program 2023 (PMM 3) is a student exchange program among universities in Indonesia, conducted over one semester. It aims to provide students with learning experiences at other higher education institutions while also exposing them to diverse cultures, thereby strengthening unity in diversity. In the Odd Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year, the Communication Science Study Program at Universitas Padjadjaran welcomed 12 students from various universities. The PMM 4 program is now open for student applications.
This student exchange program is a collaboration between two universities in West Java, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad). Given the differences in academic backgrounds between the two institutions, students participating in the MBKM ITB x Unpad exchange program are expected to broaden their perspectives while building meaningful connections with peers from both universities.
The program was previously held in the Odd Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year, offering approximately 150 courses from Unpad and around 165 courses from ITB. One of the Communication Science students who participated in this program is Zakia Sabina (Communication Science, Class of 2021).
“Although the courses I selected seemed quite distant from the field of Communication Science, this MBKM ITB x Unpad program provided me with many new insights that truly broadened my perspective and reinforced the idea that Communication Science is relevant across various disciplines. In addition, I really enjoyed experiencing a different academic environment by studying in a campus and major that are predominantly science- and technology-oriented, which contrasts with the social sciences focus of Communication Science. It was such a fun and valuable experience during my fifth semester!” – Zakia (Communication Science 2021)
