The Bachelor of Communication Studies program (hereinafter referred to as the Communication Studies Program) is the epicenter of communication studies development in Indonesia. Every year, the Communication Studies Program ranks among the top 10 most popular social sciences and humanities programs at Padjadjaran University. The number of applicants consistently exceeds 3,200, with prospective students coming from various regions across Indonesia. Given this high level of interest and the highly competitive admission process, the Communication Studies Program is committed to producing graduates who are competent in the fields of digital media, research, and entrepreneurship, while continuously prioritizing the accessibility of student services. This commitment is evident in the recruitment and selection methods employed, the availability of scholarships that are easily accessible to students, and the availability and ease of access to other services. In addition, adequate facilities and infrastructure are available, such as practical laboratory facilities, health services, sports, arts, and specialized programs.
The Communication Studies Program aims to produce three graduate profiles: Professional Communication Researcher, Digital Communication Professional, and Social Entrepreneur. Therefore, to achieve these graduate profiles, students in the Communication Studies Program are expected to demonstrate learning outcomes in the form of the ability to identify, explain, and apply relevant communication theories in the fields of health, political, cultural, and media communication studies. Additionally, students are expected to be able to deliver public presentations by integrating rhetorical skills, communication planning, and visual communication. Students are also expected to create communication products across various media platforms and apply quantitative and qualitative data analysis in diverse communication research contexts. Another essential skill is the ability to conduct critical analyses of developments in information and communication technology and their implications for society.
Efforts to achieve these expected competencies include the development of the Communication Studies program curriculum, which takes into account advancements in communication scholarship, the direction of higher education policy in Indonesia, and industry trends. The achievement of the learning outcomes expected by the program can generally be demonstrated through several means, including faculty-student evaluations, student research articles published in accredited national journals, and the outcomes of communication program implementations.
The Communication Studies Program upholds the motto “Insight-based Communication to Enhance Society” as the guiding principle for achieving the program’s future vision, mission, and objectives. This motto also drives the Communication Studies Program to consistently contribute to academic advancements and innovations for the benefit of society.
“To be an inclusive, sustainable, world-class center of education and knowledge in communication studies at the undergraduate level that makes a meaningful impact on society.”
