Press Release “The Global Leap: Parental Guide to IUP Communication Science Unpad Study Abroad”

The International Udergraduated Program (IUP) Communication Science, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran held the activity “The Global Leap: Parental Guide to IUP Fikom Study Abroad” on Monday, April 20, 2026 at the Fikom Unpad Postgraduate Auditorium. This activity is a socialization agenda for parents of IUP students of the Class of 2024 who need to finalize preparations for students departure to take part  in the study abroadprogram  in the Odd Semester (Fall Semester) 2026. This program is part of the university’s strategy towards a World Class University and equips students with cross-cultural experiences relevant to the global communications industry.

“The Fikom Unpad Parental Guide to Study Abroad activity is  actually to socialize to parents of students, especially IUP program students so that they know better which campuses have opened applications and also friends have been biased to start submitting and also what requirements must be completed for later they leave abroad.” Explained Tantri Annisa Hanjani, PIC IUP Communication Sciences Fikom Unpad.

The study abroad program  in 2026 is prioritized for 5th semester students with two main mobility schemes: the Visiting Student Program and the Student Exchange Program. The Visiting Student scheme  is a priority this year with a relatively larger quota, while the Student Exchange scheme  is more competitive with a limited quota.

The Head of the Communication Studies Study Program of Unpad, Dr. Andika Vinianto Adiputra, S.Sos., MA., explained that through this program, students not only expand their academic horizons but also their independence and global competitiveness. “Graduates will later obtain a Certificate/Letter of Program Completion as an added value in addition to their bachelor’s degree,” he said.

Unpad has established strategic partnerships with five well-known universities in South Korea located in Seoul, Daejeon, and Suwon. Some of the top choice campuses for Communication Studies students include:

  • Sungkyunkwan University (Seoul/Suwon): Focus on the integration of Communication, AI, and Big Data.
  • Hanyang University (Seoul): Excels in the Industry-Coupled Problem-Based Learning methodology.
  • Ajou University (Suwon):  Excels in the tech-savy student administrative support system.
  • Myongji University (Seoul): Known for its focus on digital media.
  • Woosong University (Daejeon): Offers an international environment ranked #1 in Korea for “International Outlook” according to Times Higher Education.

On this occasion, the Regional Manager of Woosong University, Ignatius Hanny, was also present who explained the overview of cooperation with Unpad. At Woosong University, Unpad students can choose from a variety of study programs that are taught entirely in English, such as Media & Communication Arts, Business Administration (AACSB accredited), to Artificial Intelligence & Big Data. Woosong, located in Daejeon, Korea’s “Silicon Valley“, offers a more affordable cost of living compared to Seoul with complete dormitory facilities.

Interested students must meet the strict requirements, including having completed a minimum of 70 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.3 and have proof of English language proficiency (Duolingo, TOEFL, or IELTS). Internal selection will be carried out as soon as students choose the university of interest and submit essay documents which are one of the selection requirements at the Study Program level.
The International Undergraduate Program (IUP) in Communication Studies Unpad is designed to produce competent graduates at the global level with international learning experience and mandatory mobility programs to partner universities abroad. This program is also in line with its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 (Quality Education) which focuses on improving access, quality, and learning opportunities that are inclusive and globally competitive. Furthermore, parents and students are expected to work together and be better prepared to be able to support the sustainability of the Study Abroad  program which will start in August 2026.
