Cecilia Noviana Darmawan, known as Cecil, is a class of 2022 Communication Science student. Every year, she never misses an opportunity to watch the “Home Alone” movie. For Cecil, this family movie has been an irreplaceable Christmas icon. Even though everybody has known the plot, boring is not its middle name. Cecil said that watching “Home Alone” always brings her joy and warmth, especially because of the good ending. “I remember the first time watching Home Alone. I felt like I wanted to rewatch it over and over because it is never boring” she added. For her, this movie is a cherry on top for her Christmas. In Cecil’s opinion, the screening tradition of “Home Alone” on national television during Christmas is crucial. Cecil felt like Christmas is imperfect without a moment with family, watching this classic movie on television. With its warm and meaningful message, “Home Alone” has been an inseparable part of the Christmas celebration for many families, including Cecil’s.
