Protect The Sanctity of Pancasila Through Communication

Every October 1st, Indonesians commemorate Pancasila Sanctity Day. We have commemorated this since 1967 because of a major event in Indonesia’s history, namely, the Thirtieth of September Movement. A successful defence of the Pancasila ideology from communism resulted in the commemoration. In addition, we commemorate Pancasila Sanctity Day to remember the six generals and other people who fought and fell in the Thirtieth of September Movement.

The 2024 Pancasila Sanctity Day’s theme is “With Pancasila, We Actualize A Golden Indonesia.” Through this theme, Indonesians are reminded to hold and internalise Pancasila’s values in their lives as a society. These values are reflected in the five principles of Pancasila. As an individual who’s equipped with knowledge regarding communication, we can combine what we learned with the values of Pancasila in our daily lives. For instance, by being assertive in interpersonal communications, we can show that we’re wise and this fits with the second and fourth principles of Pancasila. Another example, intention and attempt to empower the people around us are also in line with the spirit of the fifth principle.

Therefore, to protect the sanctity of our nation’s ideology, let’s internalise Pancasila’s values in our lives. We can start by applying those values in our interactions with other people. Happy Pancasila Sanctity Day! (Ed)
