The Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (Fikom Unpad), held a Dean Candidate Socialization event on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the OEMI Room, Building 1, Fikom Unpad. The event, opened by Dr. Ira Mirawati, M.Si., was attended by lecturers, administrative staff, student representatives, and alumni. After singing the Indonesian national anthem and the Unpad Hymn followed by a prayer, the session continued with welcoming remarks from the Chair of the Faculty Senate, Prof. Dr. Susanne Dida, M.M., and the current Dean of Fikom Unpad, Prof. Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos., S.H., M.Si. The event served as a platform for the entire academic community to gain insight into the visions, missions, and ideas of the seven dean candidates of Fikom Unpad.
One of the candidates who drew significant attention during the session was Dr. Nindi Aristi, S.Sos., M.Comn., a lecturer from the Communication Science program. In her profile video, Dr. Nindi emphasized her vision to build adaptive faculty governance aligned with digital transformation while promoting collaboration across all academic elements. She highlighted that the enhancement of human resources, particularly lecturers and staff, must be accompanied by transparency and accountability in decision-making processes.
Dr. Nindi also underlined the importance of fostering a participatory academic culture oriented toward improving the quality of learning. She expressed her commitment to expanding interdepartmental collaborations, strengthening international networks, and implementing policies that encourage research and innovation in communication studies relevant to societal needs. “Leadership within the faculty should act as a facilitator that listens and connects, not merely as a decision-maker,” she stated after the screening of her profile video.
During the discussion and Q&A session, Dr. Nindi addressed questions regarding faculty governance and lecturer development by reaffirming her dedication to transparency and collaboration. She linked this to her earlier statement in an interview published on the official Ilkom Unpad website, where she envisioned a participatory and digitally integrated governance system aimed at fostering a human-centered and excellence-driven academic environment. Her perspective received positive attention for its relevance to the evolving landscape of higher education today.
Responding to students’ concerns about facilities and creative support, Dr. Nindi proposed the establishment of a “Town Hall” program, a public forum serving as an open communication platform among students, lecturers, alumni, and corporate partners. This initiative aims to provide a space for students to share ideas, collaborate, and develop creative potential that directly contributes to improving academic quality and professional readiness.
Through her participation in this socialization session, Dr. Nindi reaffirmed her commitment to transparent, participatory, and inclusive governance. The spirit of openness she upholds aligns with the 16th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. This principle reflects her effort to cultivate an educational environment that is ethical, collaborative, and globally competitive paving the way for Fikom Unpad to become a more adaptive and innovative faculty.
