Every May 2nd, Indonesia commemorates National Education Day as a way to appreciate the progress of education in the country. This day also serves as a meaningful moment to reflect on the role of education in our lives.
Education is not merely about studying and exam scores. It should enlighten the mind, shape character, and foster empathy. In the midst of a fast-paced digital era, the essence of education as a shared space for growth becomes increasingly important.
However, challenges in the education sector remain evident. Inequitable access to education across regions, limited facilities, and the welfare of educators continue to be major issues. Not to mention the difficulties of online learning, which has left some students behind due to technological constraints.
Despite all these challenges, the spirit of educators and learners never fades. They are the faces of hope who believe that education is a path to a better life. Education is not solely the responsibility of teachers, but also of parents, communities, and us as individuals.
As a Communication Science student, what is your role? Let’s celebrate National Education Day by committing to lifelong learning, sharing knowledge, and fostering an inclusive and welcoming learning environment at Universitas Padjadjaran.
Happy National Education Day 2025! [Ed]
