Hi, Ilkomers! Did you know that the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Universitas Padjadjaran has a prestigious competition platform called Epicentrum? Epicentrum is an annual international-scale communication festival organized by the Student Executive Board of Fikom Unpad, consistently highlighting various contemporary social issues. In its implementation, each study program within Fikom presents its own competition category that aligns with its specific academic character. For the Communication Studies program, this competition is known as Research Mindedness (Remind).
Remind is a competition that focuses on research development and the formulation of strategic solutions from a communication perspective. Mardiyah Fitri Robbani, a Communication Studies student from the Class of 2024 who is commonly known as May, has been entrusted with the role of Project Officer for Remind 2026. She explained that this year’s Remind is designed as an international-scale communication research competition that encourages students to actively take on the role of agents of change in responding to social issues.
Furthermore, May outlined three main missions that Remind 2026 aims to achieve. First is a learning space, which provides students with an international research competition environment that upholds the values of sportsmanship, while also serving as a learning platform for the committee to build a professional, structured, and well-directed organization grounded in a sense of family. Second is a space for contribution, offering students opportunities to propose strategic, creative, and innovative solutions to social problems through a communication approach, as well as enabling the committee to contribute to the success of Remind 2026 in a way that leaves a meaningful impression. Third is a space for interaction, which fosters collaborative relationships among students, committee members, and external parties, generating benefits in the form of networks, experiences, and material or non-material support.
Remind 2026 also introduces several updates compared to previous years. One notable change lies in its visual identity, as the Remind logo will undergo a redesign that is currently being developed together with the core committee team. Structurally, there are also adjustments in the committee’s division system. For instance, the sponsor division from previous years has now been expanded into the sponspart division, with a broader scope of responsibilities that includes securing sponsorships as well as managing media partnerships.
Based on evaluations from last year, Remind still faces challenges in attracting participants from abroad. Therefore, the Remind 2026 committee has prepared several strategic measures to strengthen its international reach. These efforts include optimizing promotion through social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn, as well as building collaborations with media partners and brands. In addition, Remind will conduct both online and offline roadshows. These roadshows will not only target external universities but also internal environments within Unpad, such as Graha Kandaga and other faculties at Universitas Padjadjaran. In terms of internationalization, Remind plans to collaborate with the Communication Studies program at Unpad as a bridge to partner universities overseas, while also working with international institutions and communities present on campus.
At present, Remind 2026 has entered the preparation stage for staff open recruitment, following the earlier opening of a special registration for MSDM (Human Resource Management) staff. The open recruitment for all staff divisions will take place from January 1–7, 2026. Therefore, May invites all students to get involved, either as committee members or as competition participants. For the committee, May explained that Remind will serve as a new learning space that not only offers organizational experience, but also fosters relationships and a sense of family within the Communication Science environment at Universitas Padjadjaran. Meanwhile, for participants, Remind 2026 is designed as a platform to achieve excellence while learning, with research themes that are guaranteed to be increasingly engaging to explore. “So, make Remind your opportunity to excel!” May said.
In terms of its implementation, Remind 2026 aligns with two points of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, it supports Goal 4: Quality Education by providing inclusive and high-quality learning spaces on an international scale. In addition, Remind contributes to Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging cross-institutional collaboration at both national and international levels, as a concrete step toward building global cooperation in academic and communication research fields.
