Earth Day: It’s Time to Care and Take Action

Every year on April 22nd, the world commemorates Earth Day as a reminder of our planet’s environmental condition. However, this year, more than just a reminder, Earth Day must serve as a call to action because our Earth is not doing well.

“The state of the Earth today is quite alarming,” said Muhammad Ilham Zulfar, a student of the Communication Science Study Programme at Universitas Padjadjaran. Ilham highlighted the increasingly unpredictable weather and the melting of polar ice caps as clear signs of the climate crisis.

Although the challenges our planet faces are significant, Ilham believes that change can start with small steps. He encourages separating organic and inorganic waste to make it easier to process and prevent environmental pollution.Salsabila Febrina, also a student of the Communication Science Study Programme, shared a similar sentiment about the Earth’s current condition. According to her, climate change, mounting waste, and air pollution are all worsening the state of the environment.

Salsabila emphasized the importance of small conscious acts to help heal the Earth, such as not littering and planting trees. These actions may seem minor but they can make a huge impact. In her efforts to care for the planet, Salsabila also mentioned her participation in a beach cleanup activity.Earth Day is not just an annual celebration. It is a powerful reminder that we must care and take responsibility for preserving our planet. Ultimately, caring for the Earth is no different from caring for our own home.Happy Earth Day 2025![Ed]
