Achieving Life Balance on International Mind and Body Wellness Day 2025

Every January 3, the world celebrates the International Day of Mind and Body Wellness. This moment is a reminder of the importance of maintaining a balance between mental and physical health, especially in the midst of stressful modern life. Many people often only focus on one aspect of health, even though the body and mind work complementary. Taking care of both holistically is the key to living a happier and more productive life.
In practice, the balance of mind and body wellness can be achieved through a variety of simple ways. Regular exercise, such as yoga or morning walks, not only strengthens the body but also calms the mind. In addition, meditation and breathing techniques help reduce stress, which is often a trigger for health problems. A healthy lifestyle also includes a nutritious diet and adequate sleep. When the body is well nourished and the mind is protected from excessive pressure, both will create a positive synergy.
During holiday, two class of 2022 Communication Science students, Cherim Kim and Awfa Ikmal Hannan, found a unique way to maintain physical health as well as calm the mind.
Cherim spent her days doing yoga, which she said, brought peace of mind and helped her achieve the personal goals she has set. This dedication kept Cherim energized through her routine. Not only yoga, Cherim also complemented her leisure time with gym and golf, showing her commitment to healthy living. On the other hand, Awfa chose running as his favorite activity during holiday. For Awfa, running is not just a test of physical endurance, but also a way to enjoy moments with himself and evaluate personal goals.
This choice of exercise reflects their personal approach to health, showing that holiday can be a productive time to improve the balance of body and mind. Despite their different choices of sporting activities, they both agree that a healthy balance between mind and body is equally important.
However, maintaining this balance is not an easy task. Challenges such as work, social demands, or bad habits such as staying up late often interfere with these efforts. Therefore, the International Day of Mind and Body Wellness is an opportunity to re-evaluate our lifestyle. By taking the time to take care of ourselves, we not only maintain our health but also improve our overall quality of life.
Cherim and Awfa shared an inspiring message for all Communication Science students. They encouraged us to continue incorporating our favorite sports into our daily routine. In Cherim and Awfa’s opinion, setting goals in exercising is very important to maintain motivation.
“Set clear targets, but don’t forget to enjoy the process,” Cherim stated. This, she added, not only helps keep the body healthy, but also provides peace of mind.
This message is a reminder that exercise is not just a physical activity, but also a way to maintain mental balance. So, whatever the sport is, do it with pleasure and make it a quality time for yourself.
This commemoration is also an invitation for the wider community to be more aware of the importance of mental health. The stigma surrounding this issue must be challenged, as a healthy mind is just as important as a strong body. So, let’s use the International Day of Mind and Body Wellness as a starting point to love ourselves and live a more balanced life. After all, health is the best investment for the future. Happy International Mind and Body Wellness Day! (Ed).
