What’s On Ilkom Awards?

On November 25, 2025, the Internal Relations Department of the Himpunan Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi (Hima Ilkom) of the Kabinet Makna Kita held their final work program for the second term, namely Ilkom Awards. This event was designed as a form of appreciation for active students of the Communication Studies Program who demonstrate achievements and positive character, both in academic and non-academic fields. Beyond presenting awards, Ilkom Awards is also expected to foster a healthy competitive and supportive environment through recognition of the contributions and uniqueness of each Communication Studies student.

In general, the Ilkom Awards series consisted of two main agendas: the announcement of award nominations and live performances by Communication Studies students from different cohorts. This year, Ilkom Awards carried the theme “A Night of Recognition,” inspired by the concept of a masquerade. The theme represents the idea that every individual has a unique journey and set of achievements behind the “mask” they present to the public. Therefore, every effort made by students, including those that are not always visible, deserves appreciation.

Voting to determine the award winners was conducted online via Google Form, which was distributed through cross-cohort Ilkom groups. This year, the nominations involved students from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 cohorts, with a total of 13 award categories. The thirteen nominations were as follows:

  • The Jokester (won by Nayaka – Communication Studies 2024)
  • The Artsy One (won by Oyen – Communication Studies 2024)
  • The Social Butterfly (won by Bile – Communication Studies 2024)
  • The Lovebirds (won by Faras & Bile)
  • The Fashionable Woman (won by Mutiara – Communication Studies 2024)
  • The Fashionable Man (won by Didoy – Communication Studies 2024)
  • The Content Creator (won by Amay – Communication Studies 2023)
  • The Entrepreneur (won by Oyen – Communication Studies 2024)
  • The Sporty (won by Rio – Communication Studies 2023)
  • The Rhetorics (won by Tristan – Communication Studies 2023)
  • The Critical Thinker (won by Tristan – Communication Studies 2023)
  • The Workaholic (won by Difha – Communication Studies 2024)
  • The Achiever (won by Zize – Communication Studies 2025)

According to Kimmie, one of the persons in charge (PIC) of the event, the most memorable moment of the Ilkom Awards series was the award night as the main event. Nevertheless, she added that the overall preparation process was also an equally valuable experience, considering that Ilkom Awards was the first cross-cohort event-based work program for the committee, especially for first-year students who were involved. Through their participation, committee members were able to become more familiar with the environment of the Communication Studies Program while also building a sense of togetherness and teamwork.

Kimmie explained that the greatest challenge in implementing this program was encouraging all students to participate in the voting process within the predetermined timeframe. However, this challenge was addressed by intensively disseminating information through cross-cohort Ilkom groups on LINE and maintaining active coordination among committee members to boost student participation in voting.

Through the organization of Ilkom Awards, Kimmie conveyed that the event aims to emphasize the message that every student has potential worthy of appreciation, no matter how small or unique that potential may be. Furthermore, Ilkom Awards is expected to serve as a catalyst for enthusiasm, togetherness, and stronger solidarity within the Communication Studies Program.

When reviewed in terms of its objectives and content, the implementation of Ilkom Awards aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 4: Quality Education. This activity contributes to individual potential development by providing space for appreciation not only of academic achievements, but also of non-academic accomplishments, character, creativity, and active student involvement. Thus, the event functions not merely as an award ceremony, but also as a means of supporting the creation of a participatory and appreciative educational ecosystem within the Communication Studies Program.
