On Monday, May 20, 2024, the opening ceremony of Epicentrum 2024 was held at the Postgraduate Building of the Faculty of Communication Science (Fikom) Unpad. Epicentrum is a communication competition festival organized under the auspices of BEM Fikom Unpad. This eagerly awaited event serves as a platform for students from various universities to showcase their abilities in different fields of communication. This year, Epicentrum carries the grand theme “Digital Transformation in ASEAN Education” with the slogan “Speak For Tomorrow’s Education.”
Epicentrum 2024 features seven competitions, including Ideation, Research Mindedness (Remind), Commoviecator, Journalism Parade, Padjadjaran Public Relations Fair (PPRF), Mediation, and Liblicious. With total prizes exceeding 94 million rupiah, the competition is joined by 37 teams from various universities.
The opening ceremony of Epicentrum 2024 began with remarks from the Chairperson, Risna Putri Khairunnisa, followed by the President of BEM Fikom Unpad, Gading Tamma Fadilah, and the Dean of Fikom Unpad, Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos., S.H., M.Si.
The opening was symbolized by the striking of a gong, marking the official opening of Epicentrum 2024. The atmosphere became even more lively with various artistic performances, including traditional dances, short film screenings, and a mini drama performance that entertained the participants and audience.
After the opening ceremony, the event continued with a talk show titled “Edutech Unleashed: Transforming Learning in The Digital Era.” This talk show featured two inspirational speakers, Benazir Bona Pratamawaty, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., a lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Science Unpad, and Carolina Tinangon, Secretary of the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, who shared insights on how educational technology (edutech) can transform learning in the digital era. This discussion is expected to provide new perspectives for participants on the importance of technology adaptation in the education process, particularly in the ASEAN region.
With its grand theme, Epicentrum 2024 is not only a competition but also a platform to inspire positive changes in the education system. Through a series of competitions and activities, it is hoped that participants can develop innovative ideas that can be implemented in the future of education. (Ed)
