World Youth Day 2024, Malik and Anindya’s Journey to Achieve Dreams and Experiences as a Juvenile

Every year, August 12th is celebrated as International Youth Day, a significant moment designed to recognize and celebrate the vital role that young people play in the global society.

International Youth Day was first celebrated in 2010, thanks to an initiative by the United Nations (UN). The aim is to raise awareness about the issues faced by youth worldwide, as well as to celebrate the immense potential that young people have to contribute to social, economic, and political development. This day also seeks to promote youth rights and encourage their participation in decision-making processes that will shape their future.

In connection with International Youth Day, two Communication Science IUP students from the class of 2024 shared stories and experiences from their youth and the inspiring journeys they have undertaken.

Let’s get to know Muhammad Malik Hafizh, commonly known as Malik, a 2024 IUP Communication Science student. Malik shared memorable stories and experiences from his youth, with his journey of getting into a public university being the most significant for him. Through this struggle, he learned the essence of perseverance during his teenage years. Every challenge he faced paid off when he successfully became a student in the 2024 Communication Science IUP program. He hopes that the establishment of IUP Ilkom will enhance and improve the reputation of Padjadjaran University.

Malik expressed his hopes on this International Youth Day. He wishes that youth around the world can enjoy their teenage years to the fullest, as there is nothing more beautiful than spending adolescence with all its joys and sorrows. For him, these years have taught him to cherish the time spent with loved ones, who have been a vital part of his journey.

In addition to Malik’s story, Anindya Jasmine also shared her teenage experiences. For her, adolescence was a time to create many memorable moments, particularly when participating in various competitions during her high school years. The journey wasn’t always smooth, as she encountered failures along the way. However, these experiences motivated her to continue developing her skills by participating in more competitions. Supportive friends also played a crucial role in her adolescence, pushing her to step out of her comfort zone.

Being part of the first batch of the Communication Science IUP at Unpad is also a great honor for her. This achievement is one of the rewards for her persistent efforts during her teenage years. She is grateful for this opportunity and is eager to learn, grow, and contribute maximally to the Communication Science IUP program at Unpad.

Anindya also hopes that International Youth Day can be used to provide the golden generation with equal access and opportunities in education, technology, and employment. Moreover, she believes that youth should be given the opportunity to participate in decision-making processes that will impact their lives and environment. The celebration of International Youth Day is crucial for recognizing the achievements and contributions of young people to society.

International Youth Day is a time for reflection and action. It is important to appreciate the extraordinary potential of young people and to identify the challenges they face. The stories of Malik and Anindya serve as an inspiration for students to cherish every moment, especially those in their youth, which can become a turning point for creating and achieving their dreams.
