June 1st is commemorated as Pancasila Day, a significant moment marking the birth of Indonesia’s foundational ideology. In 1945, the nation’s founders presented their ideas about the country’s foundation during the BPUPKI session, which later became the fundamental basis for the nation’s life. In the modern context, especially among students, Pancasila remains relevant as a guide in facing various challenges such as social injustice, corruption, academic freedom, and human rights issues occurring both in academic environments and the broader society. As agents of change, students are expected to uphold the values of Pancasila by leading lives of integrity, fighting for justice and human rights, and fostering unity amidst diversity.
Wishing a happy Pancasila Day is not merely a formality but an invitation to continue embodying the spirit of Pancasila in daily life. By upholding the values of Divinity, Humanity, Unity, Democracy, and Social Justice, students can become strong pillars that bring positive change to the nation. May the spirit of Pancasila continue to live on and inspire the struggle towards a more just and prosperous Indonesia. Happy Pancasila Day! (Ed)
