First Step Toward a Career Journey: A Student’s Internship Experience at Telkom Indonesia

Internships are a pivotal part of a student’s academic journey, offering firsthand experience to the professional environment. Irine Vianney Ayu Prabowo, a student from the Communication Science Study Program, seized the opportunity to intern at Telkom Indonesia. During her internship, Irin served as a Content Creator for Human Capital Communication (Hccom), where she shared her experiences and insights.

Irin’s internship was part of the Kampus Merdeka program. Irin began by preparing necessary documents such as her CV and portfolio for the administrative selection process. Upon passing this phase, Irin proceeded to the interview phase. Successful completion of both phases led to her official acceptance, which was announced via the Kampus Merdeka website and email.

As a Content Creator for Hccom, Irin was responsible for managing content plans and calendars, as well as managing TikTok and Instagram accounts under @Livingintelkom. Irin also contributed to content creation on Diarium, an application used by TelkomGroup for collaboration, communication, and connectivity among employees.

“I gained a lot, especially in both soft and hard skills. In terms of soft skills, I learned about teamwork in a new context. At Hccom, as interns, we worked as a team where each individual had different working styles and thoughts. I had to adapt and align my working style with others to ensure smooth collaboration. Additionally, I developed hard skills such as graphic design, copywriting, and strategic communication planning.” When asked about the skills Irin acquired during her internship.

In closing, Irin encourages fellow students not to hesitate in pursuing internship opportunities from now on. Showcase the best of your abilities and always believe that everyone has the same chance! [Ed]
