Thursday, May 9, 2024, marks a decade of the Communication Science Student Community at Universitas Padjadjaran (Hima Ilkom) serving as a hub for growth and expression for all Communication Science students. Ten years is certainly not a short period, and it deserves to be celebrated as a monumental achievement.
To celebrate this golden decade, the Internal Relations Division and the Art, Culture, and Sports Division of Hima Ilkom’s Arunipraya Cabinet have organized a special collaboration titled “HUT Hima x Yellowpiade,” filled with various competitions and performances in arts and sports. The Yellowpiade event series ran from May 2-7, while the Hima Ilkom anniversary celebration was held on May 8. This collaboration aims to enhance cohesion and communication skills among students. It is also expected to serve as a platform for developing and appreciating the sports and artistic potential of Communication Science students.
Yellowpiade hosted four tournaments, including 3 on 3 Basketball, Playstation FIFA, Badminton, and Digital Poster. According to Yohannes Bryan, the head of the Art, Culture, and Sports Division (Senbora) of Hima Ilkom, the Yellowpiade program collaboration as part of the Hima HUT celebration was initiated by the Chair and Vice Chair of Hima Ilkom. They felt the need to revive the Yellowpiade event because it did not receive adequate attention the previous year.
“The Olympics are always a much-anticipated celebration for everyone, and we hope Yellowpiade will be, too, always eagerly awaited. On the other hand, HUT Hima is also an event that has a festive and celebratory impression, so we want to collaborate together to make this a significant day for Communication Science students,” said Bryan.
The first event of Yellowpiade opened with the 3 on 3 basketball competition on May 2, 2024, at the Fikom Basketball Court. The basketball competition was won by Team Class C of the 2021 cohort, led by Devvit Amdani and his teammates.
The series continued with the Playstation FIFA competition held on May 3, 2024, at the Hallway of Building 2 Fikom. The FIFA competition was won by Muhammad Haekal from Class A of the 2023 cohort.
The mixed doubles badminton competition concluded the Yellowpiade series. Held on May 6-7 at the Badminton Court of the Student Center Fikom Unpad, the competition featured eight teams from four cohorts. Ramadhani Saputra and Tiffany H. from the 2020 cohort emerged as the champions.
In addition to these three competitions, a digital poster competition themed around the Anniversary of Hima Ilkom was won by Ibrahim Attariq from Class B of the 2022 cohort.
The main celebration of the Hima Ilkom Anniversary was held on May 8, 2024, in the Moestopo Room of Building 4 Fikom Unpad. The event began with a speech from the project officer of the Hima Ilkom 2024 Anniversary, Etika Indah Jinor Anom. This was followed by speeches from the Chair of the Arunipraya Cabinet, Defrio Saka Wahid, and from the representative of the Communication Science Study Programme, Mrs. Benazir Bona Pratamawaty, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom. The highlight of the event, the cutting of the tumpeng, symbolized the aging of the community. This celebration was also accompanied by wholesome wishes from previous community chairs who offered encouragement to Hima Ilkom members. The event continued with announcements and awards to the winners of the Yellowpiade tournaments in FIFA, Digital Poster, Badminton, and 3 on 3 Basketball. Performances by Jennifer Febiola and Nathania Alma Lalisang added to the festive atmosphere. All these moments sprouted a proud and inspiring ambiance for Hima Ilkom and inspire achievement in the future.
This celebration marks a new milestone in the journey of Hima Ilkom, undoubtedly a result of the hard work of previous cabinets. One such message came from Devi Ulviah, Chair of the Triaskara Cabinet for the 2016-2017 period. According to Devi, ten years is a great age for Hima Ilkom to explore various opportunities, both in the surrounding environment and in achieving as much as possible. “Happy 10th anniversary to Hima Ilkom! May it continue to serve as a hub that meets all the needs of Communication Science students and its members. Once again, happy birthday and keep up the spirit!” said Kak Devi.
This year’s HUT Hima Ilkom celebration has become an unforgettable moment for all involved in Communication Science. May the spirit and camaraderie displayed during this anniversary celebration continue to inspire us to achieve greater success and accomplishments in the journey ahead.
