Yes, Content Creators Can Get Published Too!

Being a student isn’t just about sitting in class, jotting down notes, and heading home. This is well illustrated by Ni Ketut Rahma Pratiwi Santi, better known as Amay, a 2023 Communication Science student from Bali who juggles multiple roles: intern, organizational leader, and content creator.

During her internship at PT Bersama Zatta Jaya, Amay takes on the role of copywriter. Her tasks range from writing advertisements and crafting captions for Instagram and TikTok to preparing content for various platforms, including e-commerce sites like Shopee. On campus, she is equally active, currently serving as Head of Communication and Information at Hima Ilkom Unpad. With these commitments, she constantly has to balance academics, organizational duties, professional work, and her personal life.

Despite this packed schedule, Amay hasn’t neglected her academic side. Recently, she achieved a milestone by publishing her very first scientific article titled “Analysis of Functional Theory and Personal Qualities in the South Kalimantan Regional Election Debate” in the Prophetic Politics Journal. What started as a class assignment grew into a full-fledged research project, sparking her deeper interest in political communication. She eventually chose to focus on Functional Theory and Personal Qualities, analyzing each candidate’s performance in the South Kalimantan election debates.

Amay recalls the demanding process of completing the paper, from building a literature review and transcribing two debate recordings to the analysis and writing stages. She admitted that the most challenging parts were preparing the literature review and conducting transcript analysis, which required meticulous attention to detail. The revision stage brought its own challenge, she only had ten days to finalize the paper while still keeping up with her internship workload.

To her fellow Communication Science students, Amay offers one crucial reminder: “Never manipulate data.” She emphasizes that data forms the backbone of any research, and dishonesty will only bring serious consequences. Instead, she encourages her peers to approach research with honesty, accuracy, and enthusiasm. In her view, these values will not only help students complete academic requirements but also produce meaningful contributions to the scientific community. Her accomplishments also resonate strongly with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through her work in organizations, internships, and academic writing, Amay actively contributes to Goal 4: Quality Education. By applying her knowledge in communication studies, she helps generate new insights through research while simultaneously honing professional skills that prepare her for the future world of work.
