Yellow Fellow Achievements: Shine Brighter through Arts and Sports

Communication Science Study Programme once again achieved good news from talented students who won competitions. This time, the awards came from students who shine in the non-academic field. Apart from excelling in the academic field, these students also found their spark in other things such as arts and sports.

Nisrina Arija is a class of 2023 Communication Science student who participated in a national level singing competition held by Indonesian Republic Radio: Indonesian Radio Star 2024. Nisrina competed against dozens of other talented singers and took home the third place. She was motivated to join the competition to gain new experience, sharpen her singing skill, and improve her achievements in the art field. Nisrina faced a challenge in memorizing a new song in one night. She then listened to it over and over again until she got used to the tune and lyrics of the song. From the competition, Nisrina made new friends and also got to know the quality of her voice as well as what she needed to improve in her singing skills.

Dava Habil Dian Laksamana is a class of 2023 student who is also a Communication Science’s delegation in competitions inside the campus, such as Perak 2024 (faculty level) and Big Force Festival (BFF) 2024 (campus level). Dava joined the band competition in Perak 2024 and Men’s Solo Vocal Competition in BFF 2024. Thankfully, Dava achieved first place in both Perak 2024 and BFF 2024. Dava was motivated to participate in the competitions to make the Communication Science Study Programme proud. In preparing for the competition, Dava struggled with time management. From the limited time during the preparation, Dava believed that time is money.

Catherine Novitasari Sihaloho is a class of 2021 Communication Science student who competed in IKASI 2024, a national level fencing championship. Catherine took home the women’s silver floret medal and the women’s silver sabre medal. She was motivated to join IKASI as it is a national level competition. Catherine faced a challenge in the preparation between internship and her thesis work. “Give up is not an option, keep working for the best!” Catherine said.

From arts to sports, Nisrina, Dava, and Catherine have already proven that it is possible to shine in other fields too. Hopefully, we can learn from their experiences and achievements, therefore show ourselves and be like them one day! (Ed)
