The Communication Science Study Programme is known as the mother of communication science in Indonesia. It was since the establishment of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Padjadjaran which was marked by the arrangement of a committee on 30th May 1960 then it was developed into the opening of the Faculty of Journalism and Publicity.

The name was changing over time when communication science has undergone shifting in Europe, mainly in Germany and USA, and it was established by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Decree No. 47/1982 dated 7th September 1982 on the Organizational Structure of the University of Padjadjaran and the Ministry of Education and Culture Decree No. 133/O/1983 dated 5th March 1983 on the Organizational and Management of the University of Padjadjaran, that the Faculty of Publicity’s name changed into the Faculty of Communication Sciences.

The Faculty of Communication Sciences currently has nine study programmes as followed:
